HSE Safety & Environment Specialist
Where will you be working?
Your Role
You are driven to ensure that every employee within this dynamic organization goes home safe and healthy at the end of each workday. By conducting risk assessments, advising on improvements to production and work processes, and supporting management with HSE investments, you actively contribute to a safer work environment.
You’ll take both proactive and reactive steps to ensure compliance with legislation and company standards. Maintaining strong relationships with managers is essential to achieve this. Additionally, you will ensure that everyone is aware of the health and safety standards within the organization and provide training to maintain these standards.
In short, you’ll play a key role in building a robust HSE culture within the company.
Your Responsibilities:
- Advise on potential improvements to production and working methods, including the use of equipment, machinery, tools, hazardous materials, workplace organization, and environmental factors;
- Maintain contact with managers to ensure that all activities of employees and contractors meet all legal requirements;
- Ensure early compliance with HSE requirements for all proposed new purchases and projects;
- Ensure adherence to global standards and company-wide HSE initiatives such as ISO 14001, 45001, etc.;
- Analyze work situations through Risk Inventory & Evaluations (RI&E) and ensure that the action plan is implemented and actions are followed up on;
- Ensure that all employees have the necessary health and safety information and training required for their jobs, with special attention to newcomers (both internal and external).
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree (HBO) or equivalent experience in a relevant HSE discipline;
- Knowledge of legal HSE requirements;
- Exposure to and experience in production environments;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken;
- Practical knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001), environmental discharges, incident registration systems, incident investigation, HSE auditing techniques;
- Strong passion for HSE;
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
- Ability to work independently and with precision.
